We are Freedom Flies. Beginning as two teenagers, we took our passion and enthusiasm for fishing and molded it into a fly fishing gear and apparel company.

Freedom Flies Founders Carson and Ben It started in the spring of 2015, when two high school buddies, Carson Yates and Ben Zenger, started tying flies by hand to help them catch more fish. Some flies performed better than others and the more we tested fly patterns and learned about the seasonality of fly fishing, the more fish we caught. We decided to translate this success into a business to help other fly fishing enthusiasts and in fall of 2015, Freedom Flies was born.

We launched FreedomFlies.com and were even able to get some well known fisherman to try our flies. They loved them! So much so that they posted photos of the fish they caught with our flies online which got us some great attention and feedback. With the encouragement of others, we decided to go all in on Freedom Flies.

Today, Carson Yates operates the majority of Freedom Flies Co. Carson is the Head Guide and Fly Tier. Ben Zenger has recently started his own business restoring historically accurate Army Jeeps and other utility vehicles!

Our goal is simple: Make some of the best fly fishing gear available to the fishing community, and provide clients with the necessary skills they need to be successful on the water.

Today, we offer Guided Fly Fishing Trips, individual flies or a monthly subscription box where we send you real-life tested, seasonal, American made flies each month to make you a better fisherman. We also have some killer apparel to help you look your best while fishing your best.
